Ford Middle East 31% up

Ford Middle East has posted a GCC-wide sales increase in the first half of 2010 of 31%. Sales were led by SUVs and Trucks which jumped 46%, while cars posted 18%, mostly due to the Ford Fusion and Taurus models.

Globally Ford is also doing well posting a profit of $4.7bn - $3.85 up on last year.

In our region, Ford up sales for the Expedition by 97%, followed by the soon-to-be-replaced Exlorer (see new car here) at 83%, then the Flex (58%), and the new Ford F-150 truck with a staggering 486% increase.

Fusion saw 105% increase and Taurus was up 75%, Mustang also grew sales (16%).

Sales were up 56% in KSA thanks mostly to Expedition, Qatar was up 22% and UAE saw a 15% increase.

‘This has been an exceptional half year for Ford in the region, and we anticipate sustained growth,’ said Hussein Murad, Ford’s director of Sales in the Middle East.

‘Thanks to new products we’ve introduced - and our visible commitment industry leading quality, safety, technology and value for money across the Ford marque - our customer base is growing at an unprecedented pace, and we are gaining market share. Ford's global success story is clearly rippling across all of our markets.’

For the remainder of 2010 there more new models on the way including new engines for the Mustang, and new versions of the Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX.
