Not long ago they were going to ban old cars in the UAE, but now there seems to be no end of Classic Car Events in the UAE, with the announcement of the first Burj Dubai Classic Car Show to take place next weekend (Feb 27-28).

What’s being billed as an annual ‘classic car competition’ is being staged by Emaar, the UAE Automobile & Touring Club (UAEATC) and FIVA (Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens - world-wide authority for historic vehicles), at Downtown Burj Dubai in the shadow of the world’s tallest building.

Organisers are promising a ‘veritable showcase of the finest showpiece vehicles from the past decades’. Each car on display will have a detailed description of its characteristics and ownership lineage and a jury of experienced classic car experts will score each car on the basis of originality, engine cleanliness, original car colour, historical car value, finishing and aesthetics.

The public will also have the opportunity to judge the cars and decide their favourite vehicles through a Popular Choice contest.

Amongst the cars expected to attend are FIA Vice President and former multiple Middle East Rally Champion, Mohammed Bin Sulayem’s collection of European and American cars. Other cars will include those from the El Serkal Family, who are passionate car collectors, and the Sharjah Museum.

Does anyone have information on how a person could locate a reputable classic car dealer in Dubai? I have a vehicle for sale and would like to see if it brings any interest there. Reply
