This thing is big. Just take a look at the photo on the right – that’s a Hummer H2 parked up behind the black behemoth. It’s called the Conquest Knight XV. And anything that makes the Hummer look even more ridiculous than it already is, is a good thing by us.

The Knight XV is a fully amoured, six-seat UUV – an Ultimate Utility Vehicle. With a weight nigh on 5.5tonnes, there’s nothing Sporty about this 4x4. Obviously, with all that weight, you’re going to need a pretty big engine to haul it along and Conquest have decided that a 6.8-litre V10 should fit the bill. It’ll run on bioethanol too, to keep the greenies happy.

It’s an engine that Ford offers with its F350 Super Duty Pickup – the basis of the Knight XV – though Conquest has seen fit to up the power to a nice round 400bhp (from 362bhp). It’s not exactly the most technologically advanced engine out there – don’t expect the high-revving nature of something like the M5’s 5.0-litre V10. This is a serious work truck with added luxuries – though don’t expect Rolls-Royce levels of ride quality.

Conquest promises space for six basketball players inside the Knight XV, not overly impressive when you consider the plus-6-metre length, 2.5-metre width and just as tall again. You could probably fit most of your extended family in here if you tried hard enough.

They’d be safe too as the Knight XV is fully amoured – to your exact requirements – and uses 64mm-thick glass which can withstand most ballistic fire. Once onboard, passengers can entertain themselves with TVs, laptop PCs or a Sony PS3. There’s even a night-vision system should you ever find yourself needing to leave somewhere at night in a hurry without anyone spotting you.

Each Knight XV is built to each customer’s unique needs and takes over 1500 man hours to create by hand. Conquest hopes to find a Middle East distributor for the car soon and should have the Knight XV at this December’s Dubai motor show.

And the price for the serious piece of four-wheeled machinery? A cool $359,000.
