Three Pontiac Trans Ams also joined the parade including Nawar’s 1979 version which he imported from the USA nine years ago and nicknamed after his wife Lana. This was an original car whilst at the other end of the scale was Mitch Perera’s restored and outrageously loud edition from the same year, featuring suspiciously modern mechanicals.

It was also lovely to see Arnaud's delightful 1967 Pagoda Mercedes 280SL which he recovered from Sharjah and restored, but possibly the biggest and most spectacularly car amongst the remaining participants, including three entries from the Abu Dhabi Classic Car Club, was an awesome 1959 Cadillac Coupe de Ville driven by the equally awesome and larger-than-life Jamal Salam who has owned the car for 23 years.

Chugging on possibly the largest cigar we’ve ever seen, he revealed that this was his baby – one of six including two Dodge Challengers from 1970 and 72, a 73 Charger, a 74 Pontiac Trans Am and another 63 Caddy all back in Lebanon. He then drove off bopping his head to the Bee Gee’s Staying Alive blasting from the Coupe de Ville’s stereo. I kid you not.

Ban on old cars doesnt make sense.. Collecting classics hence is not something exclusive to the rich only. Im a middle classic citizen and would love to get myself a porsche 930 someday.. To make it more controversial i would love to keep the Honda S2000 as a collectors item in the future it deserves it.. Reply
